Pointing the camera into the sun provided a neat shot, but really gave me weird artifacts.
The next time I take a photo that has a lot of strong intersecting lines I will try harder to make it more symmetrical. I would love to say a train was coming and I had no time to take the photo, but I had all the time in the world and I choose to handhold. Lesson learned.
A somewhat simple shot, I wish I had taken this in Ektar, instead I only had Portra 160nc with me. Taken in Jasper National Park.

One of the reasons I started using film was to educate myself in composition, to which I believe I failed I this photo. This is the photo as it comes out of the camera. I think there is enough content and angles to create an interesting shot. But the photo is not gripping, it does not inspire further thought. The bike rack provides nice squares to line up and frame the leaning bicycle, and the nice round tire. There is even a tree and a lamppost in the background to help frame and draw parallel lines. So what have I learned? I wonder if the bike is still there? time for a reshoot.
On a street downtown there is a old tree that looks like driftwood. But there is no lake for miles. So the deadfall tree is art. Someone dragged a huge tree for miles and dumped it on a empty lot.
This was taken with a Hasselblad 501c on Kodak Portra 800.
Took this in the early morning light at Lake Louise this summer.

New blog, lazy attitude.
I have switched my hosting of the website. It came down to ease of updating and social connectivity, it also simplifies the blog considerably. The lazy attitude is me not importing all the blog posts from the old one to this one. oh well. Tough bananas. Email me, phone me or walk up and say hi if you want to discuss history.
This photo is taken at late dusk in Edmonton on the Hasselblad 501c with Ilford Delta 3200.
